Locations, Customers, Parties, Contacts

Vijay Sai Somisetti, The Scoular Company

Functional

The paper talks about integrating Shipping Locations, Customers, Involved parties, Contacts, Service Providers to OTM but keeping them separate for different operations in OTM.

For example, we don't want to use a truck logistics location as an involved party on a shipment, and at the same time, don't use a customer involved party as a source or destination location.

We will also discuss how a Contact is different from GTM Party in OTM and how they are different. We will look at how screening a location is different compared screening involved parties.

We will explore how GTM Parties Screen is separated from Contacts screen and how the data entry is different at different places in OTM

We will also discuss about the possible enhancements to stream line this process in OTM for operational use

The process of separating customers and service providers in OTM will also be touched and potential enhancements will be discussed

Streamlining AES Filing in Complex Supply Chains

Joe Spear, Accelalpha

Functional

AES Filing is a key step when exporting from the United States. Although it is necessary to submit an accurate filing prior to shipping, the filing usually occurs at the end of the shipping process and, if impeded, can prevent goods from leaving the dock. By configuring the AES Filing functionality in GTM, we can streamline the filing process to ensure on-time and accurate filing by leveraging OTM data. AES Filings can be complicated, however, when multiple shipments are consolidated or when multiple business units are involved. These scenarios can be addressed through advanced configurations within GTM to ensure compliance throughout the process.

Join Debo Banerjee from GE Power & Water and Joe Spear from Accelalpha as they discuss the value of performing AES Filing in GTM and explain advanced configurations which allow complex shipments to be filed.

Implementation of OTM 6.4.1

Derek Solis, Mutual Materials Co.

Functional

Mutual Materials is the leading manufacturer and distributor of masonry and hardscape products in the Pacific Northwest. The company, headquartered in Bellevue, WA and with branch offices and DC's in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and British Columbia, serves consumers, masonry and landscape professionals and dealers. A strategic advantage for Mutual has always been the ability to deliver our products directly to the homeowner, job site or dealers using a combination of common carriers and our own fleet. In 2011, Mutual sought to enhance these capabilities by modernizing the software and business processes used to provide these services to our customers. OTM was selected as the right tool for this effort, and was implemented in Aril of 2012. And while the use of OTM has delivered the intended benefits, and more, we were still missing a critical piece of information, that being, a near real time update of activities from our drivers as they made deliveries throughout the day.

With OTM Version 6.4.1 supporting a mobile application, this information is now available. This talk will describe how Mutual has configured OTM to support our customers by enabling our fleet drivers to provide updates of shipment activities as they are progressing. This information, while being valuable to dispatchers, is also being used to notify customers of pending deliveries in real time, and with the most accurate estimates available. Tight integration of OTM with our Oracle EBS system enables our customers to be notified via email or text message when their deliveries are due. We are also using the mobile app to capture signatures, take photos and records notes from drivers that are directly connected to the shipments being made.

With Version 6.4.1, the benefits Mutual has seen by using OTM are increased yet again. We continue to seek ways for this technology to be used to enhance the strategic advantages Mutual Materials continues to enjoy over its competition.

Training Session - OTM v6.4 New Features

Vipin Madan, Infosys

In this session, we will talk some of the new features available in Oracle Transportation 6.4.1 version. With introduction of ADF technology, Oracle is moving towards a more modern user experience. Shipment visibility screen has been revamped and Oracle has introduced some interesting features like Oracle Transportation Mobile, Workbenches, Visibility screen view / understanding, Rate Maintenance etc. Oracle transportation mobile is a new native app introduced by Oracle which can be downloaded from Apple and Google's App Stores. Customer’s field work force can benefit with this app feature and it can help improve last mile visibility and Order-to-cash Cycle. Workbench can help users in having multiple screen sets put together in one workbench as well as visibility in the map. Rate Maintenance feature can help in maintaining and approval of rates. We will talk through some of these new features in details and their benefits for customers as well as how customers can configure them to use in their implementation.

Leveraging Dock Manager for Warehouse & Carrier Efficiencies

May Ahn and Tyler Christensen, Niagra Water

Functional

Dock manager is used in OTM to assign appointments to shipments per location resource. Location could be source or destination and resource could vary in terms of activity such as load, unload or receive. At Niagara we use dock manager to schedule pickup as well as delivery appointments for different types of orders -customer delivery, customer pickup, inbound (raw materials and copack shipments), warehouse transfers and preloads. We are able to systematically satisfy different service provider methods of loading customer product for delivery, scheduling the appointments at our warehouses, customer-carrier appointment needs for CPU and Inbound shipments from our suppliers to name a few. We also provide some control to our service providers to move around the appointments via carrier portal. We also built a PL/SQL customized procedure in place to assign dock slots to shipments based on where they are shipping from and type of order on the truck. We conclude that the results of this have saved us time and effort, possible human error and miscommunication and also improved the perfect shipment delivery to our customers both internal (planning team) and external (customers).

Handshake and Exchanging Pleasantries: Communication and Optimizing the OTM Integration Interface

Noel Dmello, KSAP Technologies

Technical

Proper interaction and integration involves not just a handshake but the exchange of pleasantries. Data interfaces for OTM uses XML messages. In these messages Transmission is the root element used to envelope data and associated information such as authentication when posted or transmitted by OTM. Processes such as Web Services, HTTPPOST, OAQ or Direct XML Insert can be used to post data to OTM. On the outbound from OTM Web Services, FTP and HTTPPOST are used to transmit data from OTM. To better manage the integration interface when data is interfaced with OTM either inbound or outbound utilizing such methods three other primary XML documents can be utilized, Transmission Ack, Transaction Ack and Transmission Report. The Transmission Ack encompasses the handshake between two applications and is the interface that provides an acknowledgement and receipt of data. The Transaction Ack is an acknowledgment or receipt that OTM sends at a transaction level. The Transmission Report on the other hand deals with the exchange of pleasantries since it captures the information of the results from the posting or transmitting of data with OTM. The data included in the Transmission Report can then be posted or received by external applications and can be critical specially in cases when an error occurs. The presentation will focus on the technical and functional details of the type and content of all of these elements. Pros and Cons of the different methods and processes to post and receive data from external applications will be discussed. Various scenarios and details of optimally utilizing these interfaces with emphasis on troubleshooting integration issues will be examined.
