2017 SIG APAC SpeakersThe OTM SIG Board proudly organises an OTM User Conference in Singapore on 7-8 December 2017, which is the fourth OTM event in APAC to better serve the region, after a successful inaugural conference in 2014. Key representatives from OTM Strategy and Development will attend this conference, and various partners in OTM’s ecosystem will sponsor. This conference is an addition to the yearly OTM conferences in Philadelphia and Europe.

The event is designed to bring together users and potential users of the OTM software to share knowledge, ideas and experiences. With an expected attendance of almost 100 people from a dozen countries, this event will be the perfect place to find answers to your questions, meet with Oracle representatives and collaborate on ideas for future upgrades.

Call for Papers

The OTM SIG Board invites you to submit your paper for the conference. We would like to see both the business change (by the client) and the technical challenges (by implementation partner). The presentation should take 30 minutes excluding Q&A. Topics of interest are 3D Container Load Plan, Cross Border Intermodal Shipments, Shipment Planning Capabilities, Freight Forwarding Rates, FTI, ADF, Global Trade Management, Integration & Middleware, OTM Upgrades, Implementation Challenges and Customer success stories.

OTM Product Development Update by Jim Mooney (Oracle)

Bio: Mr. Jim Mooney is Vice President of Logistics Development for Oracle, where he is responsible for the development activities around Oracle’s transportation management (OTM) and global trade management (GTM) products. Prior to joining Oracle in 2005, Mr. Mooney was a founder and the Chief Technology Officer at Global Logistics Technologies (G-Log), where he was responsible for product development, support and hosting services. Prior to starting G-Log in 1999, Mr. Mooney worked twelve years at Manugistics where he launched their TMS product.

Abstract: This session will provide an overview of the key features provided in the latest release of Oracle Transportation Management (OTM). This session will also cover updates to OTM documentation, training and general development updates.

Integrated OTM and Custom Mobility Solution @ DB Schenker by Julia Leong (Infosys) & Anand Vasudevan (Infosys)

Bio 1: Ms. Julia Leong is the IT Service Manager at Schenker (Asia Pacific) Pte Ltd and has been in the IT profession for over 20 years. She is responsible for the IT implementation & operations of the Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) for Asia Pacific. She is currently an active board member of the Oracle OTM Special Interest Group (SIG) for APAC. Ms. Leong obtained Bachelor of Computing in Computer Science Degree from National University of Singapore in 1992. Before joining Schenker, she worked at a IT consultancy firm as the SAP R/3 Solution Architect for logistics industry across Asia Pacific.

Bio 2: Anand Vasudevan is leading Solution Architecture track for DBS from Infosys. He has, over 18+ years of proven experience in IT industry with expertise in supply chain & logistics domain, architecting/designing solutions across multiple geographies for complex/global multi country transformation programs in US, EUROPE and APAC.

Abstract: Schenker (Asia Pacific) Pte Ltd embarked on OTM as a strategic IT transformation to build a Transport Management System for Australia Transport division which help the Operations to handle their consignments in efficient way and provided high visibility to their customers. A custom Mobility Solution, fully integrated with OTM, is developed to manage Driver efficiency and provide support for Dock Operations to preform JIT planning and pallet build up and tear down, Scan On& off truck using Mobile Devices. In this session we will share our Integration of OTM with custom Mobility Solution.

Streamlining transportation processes to drive efficiencies and security in the warehouse by Nikhil Gupta (Inspirage)

Bio: Nikhil Gupta is a Principal Consultant with Inspirage and has been working in delivery and pre-sales for OTM & GTM for about a decade. He comes with strong experience working as Solution Architect in complex Greenfield implementations and delivering innovative solutions across the globe.
A Computer Science Engineer and MBA (Gold Medallist) with specialization in Software Enterprise Management from the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (India), Nikhil has demonstrated innovation in various dimensions of his work and was awarded a national level prize for the most innovative project idea presentation.

Abstract: This presentation talks about the experience of a large beverage company that implemented OTM for timeslot management within the warehouse. The Timeslot management provided overall visibility into yard operations. This included self-booking of timeslot by transporters. The timeslot management system enabled faster turnaround time within the yard and also improved staging efficiencies within the warehouse. In addition measures were implemented to ensure that only authorized vehicles could enter the facility. In addition weigh scale information was used to determine shortages or overages at the time of gate out. OTM standard mobile app was implemented for dedicated vehicles.

Next Generation Optimization & Collaboration with OTM by Shobana Ravisankar (APL Logistics) & Raghvendra Gandewar (Infosys)

Bio: Paritosh Mangrulkar is OTM Architect & Project Manager with GE Appliances. He has 10 years of experience at GEA working on Warehousing & Transportation applications. Worked on OTM Implementations for integrating with Legacy & Oracle EBS

Abstract: OTM Application provides huge number of features which are easy to configure and ready to use for IT & Business users. It is important to keep the application Lean with the critical components those are in use & eliminate unwanted or simplify complex setups. GE Appliances (GEA), $5.4 Billion Business is headquartered at Louisville Kentucky, USA. OTM is implemented at GE Appliances (GEA) in 2011 to cover all the aspects of Transportation. As the process matures over period of time there is a need to review. In this paper I am going to cover the concepts with example on Saved Queries, Agents, integrations & Reports which are simplified or eliminated to achieve the goal.

Extending your OTM Footprint with REST API and Excel VBA by Simon Ang and Joseph Liang (BrightOrder)

Bio 1: Simon Ang is a Solution Architect at BrightOrder Pte Ltd. He has extensive domain experience in the areas of Logistics and Transportation having successfully implemented multiple IT projects across various industry verticals. He has been involved with Oracle OTM implementations ever since he joined G-Log in 2005 prior to the Oracle acquisition. He has done consulting work with global companies such as LF Logistics, DB Schenker, APL Logistics, Electrolux and TOLL (Australia). He is a supporter of lifelong learning and he is currently pursuing his MSc degree in Supply Chain Management at the National University of Singapore.

Bio 2: Joseph Liang is a Solution Architect at BrightOrder Pte Ltd. He has extensive OTM experience having been involved in various implementations since 2005. Among some of the notable clients he has worked with include LF Logistics, APL Logistics, TOLL (Australia) and Bluescope Steel. Joseph is also one of the largest contributors to the OTM FAQ forum and he has presented at the OTM SIG in Philadelphia in 2012.

Abstract: Representational State Transfer (REST) or RESTful web services is a way of providing interoperability between computer systems on the Internet. Contrary to popular belief, REST is not a protocol but rather a framework or an architectural style. In this presentation, we will share how REST APIs can be used to extend your OTM footprint. We will also showcase a use case using Excel VBA to interface with OTM. Key words: REST API, XML, JSON, Excel VBA, HTTP, Entities

Bio: Prithvi Mahadev has worked in Testing for 9+ years. Has been working for Flo-Group for 3 years. She has been taking care of testing in FLO projects. She is working on building Automation testing framework for OTM with her team.

Abstract: For some time, Flo, have been in discussions with one of our major clients to provide a set of services which encompass System Migrations & Upgrades, Template models for OTM, Knowledge management solutions AND Automated Testing. These all to be provided on a service level basis. This presentation introduces Automated Testing (AT) and includes How to use AT with an OTM project, How to set up the scripts, Scripts of the basic blocks, Benefits of using the Testing tool, Types of scenarios suitable for AT, “factory” based model for lower cost and rapid delivery, Specific usage for OTM upgrades, Cloud transition testing

Pre-palletization in OTM by Raghvendra Gandewar (Infosys)

Abstract: Pallets are built during the warehouse processing but it comes just before the material is shipped. It gives very less time for load planning. Hence many shippers prefer a tentative pallet count before the actual pallets are available so that the shipment can be anticipated and carriers’ services secured. We will talk about our experience in creating pallets in OTM at the order release & shipment level. The challenges we have faced and the limitations of OTM will also be described

OTM Maps, External Distance Engine Integration and Visual Diagnostic by Shyam Lingaraju and Anil Kumar Somepalli (Oracle)

Bio 1: Shyam Lingaraju is Senior Manager in Oracle. He has been in Oracle since 9+ years with total experience of 13+ years. His main expertise in OTM is on Fusion Transportation Intelligence (FTI) and Global Trade Intelligence (GTI) modules which are built on top of OBIEE and ODI tools. He has been working on these modules since 8+ years and has good technical insight on Data warehousing concepts, OBIEE and ODI tools.

Bio 2: Anil Kumar Somepalli is Senior Manager in Oracle. He has been in Oracle since 10+ years with total experience of 13+ years. He is responsible for the R&D and manages the following OTM Modules. Reports, Rating Engine, Rate Inquiry and Distance Inquiry, Financials (Invoice Matching, Approval, Voucher, Allocation etc..), External Distance Engines, Secondary Charge Shipment generation, Integration, Promote to Production. He has been working on these modules since 10+ years.

Abstract: OTM Maps provides interactive view of Shipments, Orders and its child objects. It displays the detail information of each object. With the workbench map you can run actions, make selections, and add, or remove shipments, orders, drivers, and driver positions to or from the map. The map can be zoomed, panned, and the appearance can be altered real-time. Adding to and removing a driver, order, order movement or shipment from the map happens from the source table on the same workbench layout. The table must have the map column displayed. Records can be added to and removed from the map using the Add All to Map/Remove All from Map, and/or by selecting/unselecting the individual records via the check boxes on the table.
