Vijay Sai Somisetti, Enterprise Apps Process Lead SCOULAR
Scoular executes container exports out of the USA. As part of its export operations, the company needs to report details of exports to CBP’s Automated Exports System(AES) to obtain an Internal Tracking Number (ITN). We will be discussing about using OTM/GTM to file AES for Exports out of the USA. We will explain the process of a routine scenario where export of goods get executed out of a port in the USA. We will be covering the challenges involved in filing AES and refiling AES when a company’s shipments cross border into Canada on Rail shipments to enter and load out of a Port in Canada. We will be highlighting the differences between exporting out of USA and challenges and uncertainties involved when a company executes intermodal shipments with either rail billed by shipper or by Ocean Liners from a different country. Process of obtaining an ITN with estimated set of information and refiling with accurate set of information will be explained. Consequences of either not obtaining ITN with estimated information or not refiling with accurate information will be discussed. We will explain how Scoular IT used the standard OTM functionality to overcome this challenge and supported the business be compliant with CPB. Railcar Yard Management in OTM
Bradford Benham IV, Business Analyst Nucor Steel Milind Anerao - CapGemini
Nucor Steel is the largest steel producer in USA. We have several steel mills all over the USA. One mill, located in a prime area near downtown Seattle, has small onsite rail yard and the demurrage costs are very high. Our primary objectives behind designing this yard management module were to 1.) keep track of all rail cars onsite that could be used for and assigned to outbound shipments and 2.) effectively release rail cars (empty or loaded) back to the railroad before the demurrage clock had timed out.
This presentation will walk through the implementation process of these two capabilities and the obstacles faced during this process. We intend to cover the following topics during the presentation:
• CLM VS Homegrown Solution
• Integration with ScaleConnect Application, EDI 423, EDI 404 and Oracle EBS
• Behind-the-Scenes Configuration
• Rail Car Inventory Management
• Managing Demurrage in OTM
• Implementation Challenges and Future Enhancement Plans
• End-to-End Process Flow

Integrating OTM using Micro services and Kafka
Venkataramani Kishnan, Logistics IT Lead - General Motors
Kalpesh Shukla, General Motors
At General Motors, we are on a multiyear logistics transformation journey, with OTM at its core. With very complex upstream and downstream systems and partner integrations, there was a robust need to channel the inbound and outbound transmissions into and out of OTM in a reliable and fault free manner.
Currently, we plan orders in advance using ground schedules. We then tender the shipments to the carrier as well notify the suppliers. Once the shipment is in execution, the events from the carriers arrive and update the shipments. The supplier provides the advanced shipment notification (ASN). Due to the nature of our business, the ASN transaction volume is very high. This high volume called for innovative and current technology stack which is also in line with our company’s long-term IT road map. Towards this, our solution included pivotal cloud foundry (PCF) based micro services and Kafka based real time queues to accommodate the near real time high volume transactions.
This paper talks about how we achieved the technology integration to meet the volume and real-time requirements. The participants will get a good understanding of how to integrate micro services and consideration of alternate queue approaches. The paper will highlight the architecture, the integration touch points and challenges.

Simplify, Streamline and Optimize Delivery Planning across your TL, LTL and Parcel transportation modes in a Real-Time Order Management Environment with OTM Cloud and Logistyx TME Cloud for Parcel Shipping. Manage and optimize load planning while reducing shipping costs in a dynamic made-to-stock and made-to-order environment.
Steve Cooper, Vice President, Logistyx
PL Developments was looking for a complete transportation optimization solution to support more efficient decision making for all modes of transportation including parcel. Of significant importance was the need to accurately plan with estimated shipping dates based on actual parcel time-in-transit, shipping costs based on rate shopping as well as automatically comparing parcel and LTL modes to determine the best delivery option. Gone were the old assumptions that all orders ship complete, translating to potential mode changes right before shipment execution. In addition, the company gained new parcel auditing capabilities, which freed up the company’s A/P staff from managing 50,000 invoices a year, and made it much easier to hold the carriers accountable to the actuate terms of their agreements.
OTM Visibility: Beyond the Basics
Kumar Ayyagari, Inspirage
Users of OTM have long recognized the potential for building broad visibility solutions that extend beyond the bounds of pick-up and delivery notification. Today, with enhancements to OTM UI structures and the introduction of advanced tracking technologies, OTM users are now able to achieve greater levels of supply chain visibility with more timely information, increased accuracy, and less effort. In this session, Inspirage will demonstrate examples of these capabilities and discuss key considerations for deploying an effective visibility platform built on OTM.
Solution quality in OTM implementations
Pushkar Dixit, Principal Consultant, Infosys
OTM requirements more often than not, call for customizations. Sometimes we customize without giving heed to the solution quality or we simply customize because an alternative does not present itself to us. A lot of customizations have the potential to impair the solution quality. Ex: If carrier invoices drop into OTM periodically adding additional surcharges to the original lines, and if users need to approve the lines selectively, how do you design the flow? Before billing the customers, if users want to refresh all the amounts based on updated rates, how do you design the system?

Future of Oracle Transportation Management integrated with Block-chain
"Satyanarayana Murthy Vabilisetty, Senior Solution Specialist - Deloitte Consulting LLP
With the advent of new technologies like Blockchain and AI (Artificial Intelligence), many of the mundane tasks in the Transportation Management System (TMS) applications are becoming redundant and the cost of ownership for these activities will decrease which in turn would increase the ROI (Return on Investment) for the owner. In this regard, Oracle Transportation Management getting integrated to the Blockchain platform will definitely increase the benefits to the customer and will also increase the affordability by reducing the TCO (Total cost of ownership) of the implemented TMS applications.
Some of the benefits include:
1. Supply Chain Visibility: Blockchain, a technology that stores incorruptible blocks of information across a shared digital network, could revolutionize the future of trucking and logistics by creating a new system of completing transactions, tracking shipments, and managing fleets. For example, the supplier’s Oracle Transportation management system can feed data to the Blockchain platform where all of their customers can consume the data in a more timely, transparent & secure way.
2. Equipment Capacity: This new platform of integrating Oracle Transportation Management to the Blockchain also opens up the potential for trucking load-matching apps, which can identify excess capacity across distribution networks and coordinate efficient load distribution and transportation. This could help companies adapt to a shortage of truck drivers or trucks, maximize fuel efficiency, and/or identify areas to cut budgets.
3. Brokerage & Forwarding: For freight brokers, integration of OTM with blockchain technology can provide solutions to some of the biggest challenges in the logistics and transportation industry – protecting commodities and maximizing delivery efficiency.
4. Freight Settlement: Once the voucher gets created in OTM and interfaced to a blockchain platform the payment system will be so streamlined, the “digitized roadmap” of routes, and smart contracts written into the block chain will be able to trigger the transfer of funds to a driver instantaneously once a delivery has been completed.
5. Fleet Management: With the OTM fleet data getting integrated to the blockchain platform, trucking companies would be able to maintain immutable records on each truck in their fleet, tied to every piece of maintenance given or damages incurred throughout the truck’s life—from the moment it rolls off the assembly line until it is sold again. Armed with that knowledge, companies can buy, sell, and repair new vehicles more shrewdly.
From Sonata to Symphony - Achieving Orchestration among GTM, OTM, EBS and Other Oracle Products

Leveraging OTM for Parcel Order Tracking where no Tendering
Vamshi Krishna Reddy Mowgili, Solution Architect - Tech Mahindra, Western Digital
Order track and trace is one of the key factor to track the on-time performance of a carrier and thus achieving the customer satisfaction. OTM can be configured to send the tenders to the carriers and in-turn, OTM can receive events/milestones from carrier based on the tender acceptance. This will help to track the orders in OTM only if tenders are sent to carrier and what if there is no tendering is accepted by the contracted carrier but still need to build track and trace functionality! This may not be case with traditional carriers but will be the case specially with the Parcel carriers where they do not follow or accept the tenders from OTM. While the milestones/events are received on the tracking number level for parcel shipment instead of shipment level… I would like to present a case on how to leverage OTM functionalities to capture the milestones/events on shipment at the track number level while there is no tender sent out and no reference exists with carrier, also how to track & trace an order in OTM using the tracking numbers, carrier invoice matching and freight payment for parcel shipments.

Handling Synchronous request in OTM-SAP integration using Gateway tool
Chinmaya Nanda, Sr. Consultant - KPIT
The main challenge in OTM-SAP integration is synchronous interfaces. In the case study the expectation from business is that for every inbound transmission created in OTM, synchronous response message along with object ID and transmission status should be sent back to the calling system. Similarly, for all outbound transmission created, the calling system should send the object ID, transmission status and error message in case of any error in transmission synchronously. This information should be stored in the transaction table of OTM. Learn how the Gateway tool developed by KPIT helped to cater the business requirement.

Using GTM for Trade Screening with Special Business Requirements
Allen Su, Sr. Program Manager - Dell Technologies
Dell Technologies support Global capabilities for Trade Export/ Import Orders/Services and Goods, as a critical part of the Dell global supply chain. To ensure that we are fully complied with the government regulations and company policies, as well as the Trade Compliance support to the E2E fulfillment operations, we have had some unique development and applications by the GTM, to meet the needs of company and customer special and complicated requirements.
1. Multiple Language Screening: in addition to do screening against English Lists provided by the US BIS agency, Dell also has the global responsibility to screen for Japanese and Chinese language characters with customer orders.
2. Honoring the Business decision for the same day: Developed a feature of honoring the business decisions for the same day. If the customer who is cleared today places an order tomorrow business still has to review the customer again, which is against the GTM inbuilt feature where the manual decision is remembered till the time the status is changed again.
3. Same Customer - Same Customer ID – Multiple Address (spanning across the globe): Developed a feature which enables us to maintain the customer information who has the global presence or located across different locations, which GTM DB architecture doesn’t allow us to maintain.
4. CMDM rescreening: the EMC 1.6M CMDM rescreening with a growth of 5% YOY.

Logistics 4.0 – Getting the Extra Value Out of Transport Logistics by Integrating Advanced Optimization Techniques into Decision Processes
Joachim Koch, Vice President Global Marketing and Business Development, Flexis
Logistics 4.0 – getting the extra value out of transport logistics by integrating advanced optimization techniques into decision processes. In the past, the optimization of transport logistics has been highly segmented. Where strategic, tactical, and operational planning have been dealt with as distinct and separate entities, companies have suffered from siloized decision-making and a lack of transparency, leading to decisions made on incomplete information. Decision-makers must realize that these different planning dimensions actually represent parts of the same whole that need to be interlinked in an integrated planning funnel to avoid bottlenecks, decision-making siloes, and inefficiencies. The combination of end-to-end supply chain planning solutions with the operational execution of OTM as strong TMS will allow customers to outperform in their logistics performance.
