The OTM SIG Board proudly organises an OTM User Conference in the Amsterdam Marriott Hotel on 20-22 March 2019, which is the 7th OTM event in Europe to better serve the region. Key representatives from OTM Strategy and Development will attend this conference, and various partners in OTM’s ecosystem will sponsor. This conference is an addition to the yearly OTM conferences in America (Philadelphia) and APAC (Bangalore).

The event is designed to bring together users and potential users of the OTM software to share knowledge, ideas and experiences. 11:05‑11:55  A  OTM Challenges for 4PL’s – How to implement and manage a broad customer base by Tobias Schlimpen and Joāo Gonçalves (Kuehne + Nagel)
The presentation will first give an overview of KN IL (4PL) and the different business models we offer. We will describe how we embedded the different business models into OTM and the auxiliary systems. The main part will outline how many different customer domains (50) and instances and versions we are running. It will outline process integration with OTM and our customers, warehouses and carriers – from fully automated to completely manual (because of the business of our customer).
Within KN we will show how we as 4PL do the aggregation of all Modes of Transport (Road, Sea, Air) from Order Management, Transport Planning, Tracking to Freight Settlement. We will present to the audience how we implemented specific Pharma requirements (known as GDP – Good Distribution Practice) in OTM and how our auxiliary systems are supporting us and where we see potential for OTM.
The third part will outline with which guidelines and processes we control the implementation across the globe and how we handled the recent upgrades while implementing new customers. In the end we will present the recent technical challenges we are facing and our improvement ideas to utilize OTM as a 4PL tool.

11:05‑11:55  B  In OTM, if planning module is the Alpha Male, wouldn't settlement module be a passive-aggressive partner? by Pawan Sharma (Infosys)
In OTM workshops and implementations, faced with preconceived notions, settlement module has had a rather strange life. Some clients use OTM only for its planning optimization and nothing else. There are some who use settlement module only for integrating carrier invoices the output of which is extracted for reconciliation in E-Business suite or some other system. This paper highlights OTM solutions where settlement portion resolved some of the complex logistics requirements. Examples include implementations from different geographies including Europe, and business nuances that drove these customizations. Sometimes, the best solution may be to handle the requirement in an upstream system. We will be focusing on integrations here.

11:55‑12:45  A  How to tune OTM Performance in Integration/Planning and Automations from both a technical and functional perspective by Dominic Long and Daniele Patetta (Oracle Consulting)
The performance tuning method used by Oracle Consulting EMEA consists in an iterative approach from both a technical and functional point of view: 1. Analyze the machine performance: Threads utilization and Cache hits, 2. Max out the threads utilizations on the topics that were used the most, 3. Analyze the full functional configuration, 4. Break down the processes in several sub-processes and 5. Analyze processes one by one trying: Optimization of the process itself, Substituting the functionality with a less time consuming one
Once these five steps are accomplished, if the desired level of performance is not reached yet, start again from step one. This exercise needs to be performed keeping an eye on solution quality (especially regarding planning).

The OTM implementation project at Russian Post started in 2015 and took 3 years. During the project, the main processes were automated such as the Planning of Truck, Air and Rail shipments, Tendering, Track& Trace and Invoicing. Every day approximately 100 service providers and 3000 users work with OTM processing over 1000 shipments.
In this presentation we will share our experience in the following processes of the project: (1) Creation of the internal team for development and support of OTM, a 2-year challenge; (2) IoT: Integration of the GPS/GLONASS system with TMS; (3) Trouble shooting: Conflict in Bulk Plan with Fleet and Location Capacity.

As new 5G networks are being deployed around the world, Nokia supply chains needs to be resilient and adapts to facing challenges to continue shipping equipment orders worldwide to meet customers demand. Patrick Van Merode who is the plant manager at Nokia EU Distribution Center in Tilburg, describes how implementing real-time visibility technology in their supply change help them create a rich dataset of historical transportation and conditions data to get deeper insights in their supply chain. CALL FOR PAPERS

The OTM SIG Board invites you to submit your paper for the conference. We would like to see both the business change (by the client) and the technical challenges (by implementation partner). The presentation by one or multiple presenters should take 50 minutes including a 10 minute Q&A session. Examples of presentations can be found here.

Papers will be reviewed by the OTM SIG Board, and approved papers will be awarded with one single complimentary registration, irrespective of the number of presenters.

Mr. Jim Mooney is Vice President of Logistics Development for Oracle, where he is responsible for the development activities around Oracle’s transportation management (OTM) and global trade management (GTM) products. Prior to joining Oracle in 2005, Mr. Mooney was a founder and the Chief Technology Officer at Global Logistics Technologies (G-Log), where he was responsible for product development, support and hosting services. Prior to starting G-Log in 1999, Mr. Mooney worked twelve years at Manugistics where he launched their TMS product.

Karl Baker, VP Logistics Product Development, Oracle
Karl Baker is the Vice President of Product Management for Oracle’s OTM and GTM products. Mr. Baker has over thirty years of experience covering all aspects of the development and delivery of transportation management software; he is responsible for managing the product management, and release content for Oracle’s market leading Oracle Transportation Management system (OTM) and Oracle’s Global Trade Management system (GTM). Before joining Oracle as part of the G-Log acquisition, Mr. Baker was a co- founder of G-Log. At G-Log Mr. Baker was responsible for all product strategy, product scope, product positioning, and build versus buy decisions. Prior to founding G-Log Mr. Baker was the Program Manager for the Manugistics’ Transportation Management (TMS) suite of products. During his eleven years at Manugistics, Mr. Baker was responsible for the release scope, release content, product positioning and quality assurance for all Manugistics transportation management products. Mr. Baker holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Elizabethtown College and an MBA from Drexel University.

Marybeth Roberts, Sr Software Architect, Oracle
Marybeth Roberts is Senior Software Architect and is responsible for product architecture design and solution approaches for Oracle OTM and GTM products. She has a key focus on the end to end logistics solutions in the Supply Chain Management product family. Ms. Roberts has 30 years of experience in the transportation management software space. Ms. Roberts was a founder of G-Log (Global Logistics Technologies) acquired by Oracle to be their transportation solution. At G-Log, Ms. Roberts was Vice President of Software Development responsible for the transportation product and design. Prior to founding G-Log, Ms. Roberts was at Manugistics, Inc for 12 years and had the role of Director of Architecture, reporting to the CTO. Ms. Roberts holds a BS in Computer Science from Juniata College.

Mark Hagan, Software Architect, Oracle
Mark is a Software Architect with 32 years experience in software development and consulting. He joined G-Log in 2001 as Technical Consulting Manager in EMEA and then in 2007, as part of Oracle, returned to software development working predominantly in the Integration related technologies for OTM and GTM. Mark holds a BSc in Mathematical Physics from the University of Edinburgh.

Anushila Guha, Senior IT Manager, Unilever
Anushila is a Senior IT Manager with Supply Chain Platform at Unilever. In her current role, she leads DevOps for Europe in Transportation Management. She joined Unilever in 2013 as a management trainee under its Unilever Future Leadership Programme. Over the past 6 years, she has managed delivery of large-scale system innovation in transportation domain, for Europe and Latin America, including OTM implementation for Unilever’s European secondary network. Additionally, she has also led infrastructure management for the global OTM landscape at Unilever. Anushila holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from NIT Surat and MBA in Information Management from SPJIMR, Mumbai.

Tobias Schlimpen, Team Manager Applications, Kuehne + Nagel
Tobias gained his first working experience in the banking industry working for Deutsche Bank in different branches. He worked in the area of Core Banking and later on moved to the Data Warehouse area where he had the exposure to Oracle Database 11g and Business Intelligence tools. He was managing various project teams as an IT project manager ranging from a smaller projects up to big projects (>1000 mandays). Currently within Kuehne + Nagel he is managing a team of Application Specialists with different technology backgrounds but the majority has an OTM background.

Nicola Bucco, OTM Project Manager, Marazzi
Nicola Bucco is responsible for analysis and development activities in the Sales and Transportation for Marazzi. Main tasks include Lead new project, analyzing business problems and demands, implementing solutions with key focus on optimizing processes and improving performance. He is currently OTM Project Manager for Marazzi OTM Cloud Implementation project.

Vladimir Teterev, IT Transport Solution Owner, Russian Post
Vladimir has started his career as an intern at CROC, Inc., an Oracle Platinum Partner in Russia, and became a senior consultant after 2½ years in the company. His first project was Implementation of OTM in Lenta — one of the biggest Russian retailers. He worked as project manager on the Mondelez Russia project during its coffee business separation. Currently Vladimir is IT transport solution owner at Russian Post in charge of all transportation projects. One of them is OTM implementation. Vladimir graduated from Moscow State Technological University Stankin. He is qualified as an Engineer in Computer quality control of production. He enjoys diving, snowboarding and everything related to space and astronomy.

Patrick van Merode, Plant Manager European Hub, Nokia
Patrick van Merode, Plant Manager of Nokia European Hub. Working with Nokia for the last 20 years managing various projects and logistic teams in Nokia supply chains in the Netherlands and Indonesia. Met customer expectations for the most ambitious and challenging roll-out project (3G Swap) that Nokia has ever attempted globally on that moment.

Joāo Gonçalves, Application Specialist, Kuehne + Nagel
Graduated with a Master in Informatics and Computing Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, he started his career as a researcher in the same Faculty. After that, he moved to consultancy as a Integration Business Analyst. During this time, he has participated in the implementation of a few Retail related projects and also spent 3 years working with OTM, from building custom integration interfaces and packages, configuring and managing OTM’s integration layer, setting up some custom workflows and custom reports for a Dutch customer. For the last 2,5 years, he has been working directly for Kuehne + Nagel, Luxemburg, as an OTM Application Specialist on the Integrated Logistics Implementation Department. He has been supporting the configuration and improvements of the existing customer’s setup and designing, implementing and supporting the configuration of new customers of our 4PL business (OTM functional and technical workflows, reporting, stylesheets, EDI communication).

Francesco Zanon, Controller, De Girolami
Francesco is the Controller at De Girolami Group, a transportation service provider specialized in luxury furniture distribution all over Europe and Russia. With more than 10 years of experience in De Girolami, Francesco is now also the IT manager of the Group with the responsibility of implementing Oracle OTM. He’s working with Reply’s team since last year, providing long-time expertise as supervisor of the operational/financial processes and owned technologies. The project now is in the final stage with the go live planned for April. Now he’s approaching, with the CEO Mr. Luca Lesignoli, the blockchain technology in the logistic industry.

Cyrille Ancelot, Solution Engineer, Oracle
Mr Cyrille Ancelot is a Solution Engineer for the Oracle Transportation Management solution. Cyrille has over 16 years of experience managing Transportation and Procurement projects across Europe and Asia. He brights together emerging technologies incl. IoT, BlockChain, Adaptive intelligence, Digital assistant with the Oracle Logistics Solutions to inspire Oracle customers. Cyrille has created his YouTube demonstration channel where he is sharing videos that are demonstrating the value of the Oracle Logistics Cloud solutions. His personal interests are spending time with his family and participating in triathlons.

Dominic Long, Technical Consultant, Oracle
Dominic Long is a Technical Consultant with many years of OTM experience during which has helped a large number of customers with performance and infrastructure in addition to carrying out implementations.

Daniele Patetta, Functional Consultant, Oracle
Daniele Patetta is a Functional Consultant, he joined Oracle Consulting in 2016 and since then have been involved on several OTM Implementation. These implementations were mostly focused on Retail and Food Processing Sector. Also he has been involved in several presales activities. OTM functionalities implemented: Core OTM, Operational Planning, Fleet Management, Sourcing, Transportation Intelligence, Freight Settlement. Craig Fiander, SVP Business Development, FourKites
Craig leads FourKites’ global partner and alliances strategy as Senior Vice President, Global Business Development. Leveraging his 25 years in the transportation and logistics industry, he helps drive adoption to make the FourKites platform the industry standard for predictive supply chain visibility and analytics. Craig is a member of the senior leadership team and is also responsible for numerous strategic shipper, carrier and 3PL customer relationships. Craig was previously Vice President, Strategic Alliances at ALK Technologies, a Trimble Company and developers of PC*MILER. Craig holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Certificate in Political Economy from Princeton University.

Ana Midrigan, OTM Solution Consultant, Oracle
Over 10 years of experience in Transport Logistics. As an educational background she has a Master Degree in Transport Logistics and a Bachelor degree in Transport Engineering. The professional experience reflects her background in Transport Logistics world. She has started as a transport coordinator gaining knowledge around fleet management, how to better optimize the trucks and drivers to maximize their utilization. Then as an Inbound Transport Logistics Organizer in automotive, she understood the importance of visibility of end to end flows, the risk of not having the goods at the right place in the right time and the methodologies of improving the visibility across the supply chain. Further as a Logistics Process Leader gain the helicopter view and understanding of the business processes from the most state of art industry – Automotive. Through this she gained the most valuable experience for understanding processes in logistics and supply chain. Today, as an OTM Solution Consulting she has the great capacity of understanding and illustrating the necessity of using the new technology in transport logistics and how this brings value to the customers. In terms of language she is fluent both in English and French, but also developed good skills on German and Italian.

Over 10 years of experience in Transport Logistics. As an educational background he has a Master Degree in Project Management and a Bachelor degree in Transport Engineering. The professional experience reflects his background in Transport Logistics. He started his career in the automotive industry as a transport planner gaining knowledge in end to end operational transportation processes, with a detailed touch on the planning process as he was in charge of managing the exceptions caused by bank holidays and traffic prohibitions for all the flows across Europe. Then, as an inbound supply chain project manager he increased his knowledge in the tactical and strategical logistics management areas. Currently, in the OTM Solution Consulting role, he’s able to understand both technical and functional nuances of a transportation management solution, in order to address today’s customer needs.
